As we approached Arusha, we were able to see the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro rising above the clouds. Mt. Meru occasionally peaked through, as well. Erin was excited to be coming home again, and looking forward to showing Adam her place.
As we went under the clouds, we got a quick air tour of Arusha, brushing over the hills as we flew. I got a wonderful, bird's eye view of the whole area and the landscape. Because it was so cloudy, the ride in was a little rougher than the ride out, but it was fun to bounce around in the air a little as we came in for the landing.
Once on the ground, we took our taxi back to the compound, dropped our stuff, and went for a walk around Arusha. We ate lunch, visited a couple of shops, and toured Arusha a little further with Adam.
We will spend the night here, do a little quick laundry, and be off for the safari at 8 a.m. I hope to have internet available on the safari, and will try to update, if possible. Tomorrow is a driving day, with a few cool things in store, besides.
Until tomorrow, a few more things about Zanzibar:
- It is very humid, even when it's not that hot.
- People are less friendly in Zanzibar than they are in Arusha.
- Girls in short shorts look very out of place in Zanzibar.
- Wearing a scarf as a shawl is my new obsession.
- Riding a piki-piki is a scary thrill. But I enjoy it!
