Traveling to the heart....

For most Americans, Africa is a mysterious unknown.  It has fascinated me since I was a little girl reading about the missionaries traveling there to help the people and spread the news of God.  But I never really dreamed I would someday step foot on that beautiful land, see the animals, or experience the wonder that God has wrought in full measure there.  It is so remote, so difficult to access, so... different.  How would I find my way?

Fast forward [quite] a few years, and suddenly, in a few short weeks, I will be fulfilling a life long dream, traveling to the continent of Africa.  My daughter, a much more adventurous soul than I, has spent the last few months calling Tanzania home, and I am thrilled to have an opportunity to meet the people, visit with her new friends, see the things she has seen, and taste a bit of her experience.  She now speaks the language, and she is familiar with the culture, so we will see what tourists never see - the real Africa, the real people, the places she has called "home" for the last few months.

I will, of course, have to blog about my experience.  So rest assured, faithful readers, you will come along with me on this adventure of a lifetime.

Hakuna matata, all.

(See.  I am picking that language right up!  I'm off to a great start!)
